A Grade Essay On An Inspector Calls Example For Students

A Grade Essay On An Inspector Calls All through demonstration one of An Inspector Calls J.B. Clerical utilizations unobtrusive procedures to give a feeling of looming fate and ruin for the Birling family unit. He shows the way that the Birling family likely could be set out toward defeat with heaps of procedures, for example, the utilization of contention inside the family unit itself between the for the most part more youthful age (with to a greater extent a network ethos which is progressively communist in its goals) and the for the most part more seasoned age (with entrepreneur, individualistic perspectives which swing more towards the patriot end of the scale) just as the utilization of Birling and his nave, absurd, uninformed and shut disapproved of perspectives to the general public of the time. Birling is likely the greatest factor in the familys ruin. His naivety and absurdity are genuine issues, particularly with him being at the leader of the family unit. An incredible case of these qualities comes when he says in one of his long discourses during supper, weve passed the most exceedingly terrible of it. Sensational incongruity, which Priestley additionally uses to incredible impact, shows us exactly how wrong Birling is in this occasion as the Great War is going to begin. Priestley utilizes emotional incongruity for this situation to exhibit to the crowd that debacle and without a doubt defeat are certainly approaching over the family unit with a man like Birling who is so vainglorious, continually off-base and stuck in his suppositions in charge and in full control. Another of the issues with Birling is his misguided thinking as it renders the family actually fairly helpless against things later on that are erratic. Were in for an extensive stretch of expanding success he says. In any case, once more, through the middle of sensational incongruity the crowd realizes that as the play is set in 1912 the Great War, one of the most ruinous and wrecking occasions in the entire of history, is going to occur. So if Birling is so excessively certain about such critically significant issues (and isn't right about them as a general rule) at that point what is to shield the family unit from becoming sick to a difficult which is inconspicuous, unpredicted, or even simply excused by Birling as Fiddlesticks!? Additionally, his absence of foreknowledge is a significant issue which makes certain to affect on the accomplishment of the Birling family unit in the long haul. Priestley utilizes Birlings misguided thinking and sensational incongruity together to truly underscore these terrible characteristics of Birling. For instance when he asserts that the Titanic is resilient, totally resilient. This shows exactly how wrong Birling generally is and accordingly when he says that he says were in for a period of consistently expanding thriving the crowd begins to anticipate the most exceedingly awful. One more of Birlings terrible attributes is his absence of care for other people and his individualistic nature which advances just self increase. He additionally shows an absence of care for the idea of individuals, an indication of his political perspectives, seeing them just as assets to be misused for his self advancement. Crofts and Birling cooperating for lower costs and more significant expenses! he says at a festival of his girls commitment which is totally wrong however exhibits the reality well that even his little girl (wedding the child of one of his rivals) is only a device for him to get more cash-flow and to climb the social chain of importance. Birling does likewise hope to climb the social statuses. Mrs. Birling is her spouses social prevalent. This shows his requirement for social increase influences even who he weds. Likewise another case of this comes when he is disregarded with just Gerald and Eric smoking stogies and drinking port. He makes reference to that he may discover his way into the following Honors list since he thinks he has had a clue or two. He says this to some extent to persuade Gerald that Gerald himself isnt Sheilas social unrivaled as he imagines that Geralds guardians might be stressed over the issue. This after all would endanger Sheila and Geralds approaching marriage and upset Birlings intends to shape a type of business manage Crofts Ltd. .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1 , .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1 .postImageUrl , .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1 .focused content territory { min-stature: 80px; position: relative; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1 , .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1:hover , .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1:visited , .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1:active { border:0!important; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1 .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1 { show: square; progress: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-change: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; obscurity: 1; change: murkiness 250ms; webkit-progress: haziness 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1:active , .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1:hover { darkness: 1; change: mistiness 250ms; webkit-change: darkness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1 .focused content region { width: 100%; position: relativ e; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1 .ctaText { fringe base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: striking; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; content design: underline; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1 .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; text style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1 .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; outskirt: none; fringe sweep: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; text style weight: intense; line-tallness: 26px; moz-fringe span: 3px; content adjust: focus; content enhancement: none; content shadow: none; width: 80px; min-stature: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/basic arrow.png)no-rehash; position: total; right: 0; top: 0; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef 9dc1cb1 .focused content { show: table; stature: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u5274feeb33ba661e45214c9ef9dc1cb1:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: Shakespeare's Sonnet 18 EssaySheila notwithstanding, doesnt concur with a significant number of her dads (or moms so far as that is concerned) perspectives and feelings. Where Birling and his wifes intensely free enterprise weighted perspectives put stock in the each man for himself theory, Sheilas sees strife. She has been taught in an unexpected way, likewise at an alternate time, and these issues show themselves in her increasingly communist, network ethos sees. This is unmistakably shown with the utilization of certain stage headings, for instance, when the controller proposes that the demise of Eva Smith may have had something to do wi th her, her discourse is portrayed as hopelessly indicating that this data affects he her and she feels some type of duty regarding this young ladies self destruction. Anyway when the reviewer proposes that the duty may lie with Birling, he cannot acknowledge any obligation. These confirmations feature the huge contrasts among her and her folks mentality to obligation. Priestley likewise utilizes stage bearings in his play to assist with exhibiting the clashing perspectives on the more established and more youthful age. The connection among Birling and Inspector Goole is significant and stage bearings are utilized frequently to show their apathies. Why you should come here, Inspector said Birling fretfully and the reviewer slicing through hugely intrudes on him. This exhibits the reviewer wont be threatened by Birling the same number of others are. This is key in light of the fact that the vast majority who may address Birling are lost by his alleged significance. For instance toward the beginning of the assessors enquiries when Birling says I dont like that tone. accepting that he is a higher priority than the reviewer who as an individual from the police should rank high above Birling in power. Priestley utilizes Inspector Goole to feature the apathies between the two gatherings in the Birling family unit. The auditor sides more with the more youthful age as he has communist, network based perspectives. A case of a relationship which is run of the mill of the fracas between the two gatherings is the one that structures among Birling and the controller. Birlings entrepreneur sees, and the way that they show themselves inside him, quickly carry the monitor to take an abhorrence to him. The auditors communist, network ethos doesnt coordinate with Birling and his private enterprise and the investigator considers Birling to be a narrow minded, self fixated man intrigued uniquely with regards to individual addition (regardless of whether that increase be money related or something else). An incredible case of this is the point at which the examiner, pessimistically, states, the production lines and stockrooms wouldnt realize where to discover modest work, ask your dad while depicting to Sheila how said foundations remove poor young ladies from the road to place them into modest, simple to discover business. Or on the other hand as the assessor puts it abuse. The auditor clearly detests the idea, and his perspectives do affect different individuals from the family, who understand that a portion of their perspectives, which may well have been persecuted before the appearance of the examiner may not be so radical or absurd. The separation of the two gatherings sees are, as I would see it, a significant factor to the destruction of the family unit.

It would be ideal if you see my remarks in red textual style beneath. Dr. Mary Beth KlingerGrade: 9. 44/10Date: November 7, 2012 Business Ethics and the Global Dimensions of Business By Date: November 4, 2012 Task: 3 Introduction XYZ Construction Inc. is headquartered in Denver, Colorado; the organization has 16 field workplaces spread all through 11 States. There are 2,300 all year representatives with a flood of 4,500 workers during the pinnacle development periods. XYZ Construction Inc. started in the late 1950’s as an exclusive privately-owned company. As of late, the family might want to move the organization into the open part inside a year time frame. XYZ Construction, Inc. performs flat development with strengths in: Roads Bridges Airfields (Klinger, 2012). Right now, XYZ Construction Inc. gets a greater part of their agreements from the state government. The reason for this article is to break down and talk about moral and social issues, alongside social assorted variety while venturing into the Asian market. Likewise, we will decide whether this endeavor into the Asian market will be present moment or a drawn out undertaking. Great presentation. Social Diversity XYZ Construction Inc. must get familiar with the Asian culture so nothing will be hostile; such things are the significance of various hues, lettering, and even certain photos. Culture decent variety could be characterized as a blend or blend of various societies; regardless of whether locally or around the world. A few associations may not acknowledge different nations esteems or morals since it might be a contention with their own. By taking a gander at the financial development inside the Asian area could help XYZ dissect where they should start and how far they can develop monetarily. Opening inside an area where you are curious about the way of life could be a destruction for association. This is the reason it’s critical to pose the inquiry: What kind of system would it be advisable for us to apply to social decent variety so as to work together inside the Asian market? Great. Similarly as XYZ Construction Inc. has natural security laws to follow in the United States they should likewise keep the Asian ecological assurance laws. It would be a smart thought to get a comprehension before opening a development office in either nation in Asia. A decent beginning of learning the Asian laws would look for help from our EPA office. Accumulate the data and pass it along to the Officer accountable for the Asian Organization so the rules can be written in a manual. Other supportive data would get familiar with the Workers Compensation laws which must be put in the workplace in English and the local tongue of the nation the workplace is found. Creative thoughts. What reference sources might you be able to consolidate into this area? What outside source would function admirably here? Moral Issues When an American organization is attempting to get built up in different nations we should consider that country’s culture, customs, language, convictions, religion, and social perspectives while working together globally, with the goal that we don’t insult them in an exploitative or indecent manner. For instance when Coca-Cola introduced their popular image logo of a White foundation with Red lettering to the Chinese government it wasn’t acknowledged. Coca-Cola needed to invert the brand logo hues to a Red foundation with White lettering. As expressed on Liny (2011) this agrees with the conventional Chinese celebration shading: red. In china, red has exceptional implications to Chinese individuals. It is a conventional mainstream celebration shading which reflects satisfaction, flourishing, karma, festivity and the otherworldly and material quest for Chinese individuals. Here’s a careful image of the Coca-Cola logo in China and the logo in the United States: Figure 1: Coca-Cola Logo Chinese versus American Another issue is a few societies don’t have faith in leading business with ladies or instructing ladies; be that as it may, it is a demonstration of separation inside the United States. Different administrative styles are utilized in arranging and dynamic, including a dictator style, a consultative style, a participative style, or a popularity based structure or authority (Executive Concepts in Business Strategy, 2011). XYZ Construction Inc. ought to likewise consider in employing a specialist that is neighborhood to maintain the Asian business so they have all the significant segments or within regarding how to work together inside a remote area. One asks is it wrong utilizing a specialist inside your organization that is nearby that may harmed the nation over the long haul? What morals set of accepted rules will the organization submit to? As expressed in the course reading, Executive Concepts in Business Strategy (2011), â€Å"Ethical challenges are available in the general universal business condition just as in singular associations directing worldwide trade† (p. 566). Here are a few segments of the code of morals: 1. The reason for the code, including (a) guideline of conduct and (b) motivation to representatives 2. An announcement of goals that is regularly remembered for a preface that plots the standards an organization tries to for its representatives. The announcement ought to incorporate the qualities and standards of the association. 3. A rundown of standards 4. A rundown of rules, if necessary 5. An announcement with respect to how the code was made 6. How the code will be actualized 7. How the code will be advertised inside to representatives 8. How the code will be promoted remotely to constituents and publics 9. How the code will be upheld 10. An announcement with respect to how and when the code will be amended 11. More often than not, qualities, standards and rules are recorded arranged by significance Why did your textual style type change here? Organizations ought not cover up nor uncover any data that will be dangerous or wrong for business, neglecting to unveil precise data can lawfully put the organization in danger and may restrict other up-coming different business’s from getting the chance to go worldwide. As a trough inside the development organization, if debasement exists, how might they handle the issue? Drucker (2009), makes reference to that â€Å"business ethics† very root is political instead of in morals (p. 23). â€Å"It communicates a conviction that the duty which business and the business official have, correctly in light of the fact that they have social effect, must decide morals and this is a political as opposed to a moral imperative† (Drucker, p. 23). In conclusion, we can make reference to the untrustworthy practices like pay off, employing minors or exploiting the less blessed. Defilement is noticeable in the Asian market because of a great deal of family-possessed business gatherings. Defilement is commonly characterized as ‘behavior which veers off from the proper obligations of an open job since private-with respect to (private inner circle, or individual close family) monetary or status gains; or disregards rules against the activity of particular kinds of private-in regards to influence’ (Nye 1967, p. 419). (Rama, 2011 p. 505) (Nye, 1967, p. 419; Rama, 2011, p. 505). These family bunch associations could impact the administration choices and the economy by not permitting or deferring endorsement of an agreement or permit to operate. Valid statements. Social Issues XYZ Construction Inc. must comprehend the social issues that may negatively affect their organization. They have a social duty paying little heed to the nation that they are in. As per our reading material, Executive Concepts in Business Strategy (2011), â€Å"Social duty is the commitment an association (benefit chasing or charitable) must be moral, dependable, and receptive to the necessities of the individuals in the association just as the bigger society. † (p. 545) Remember that your period pursues the in-content reference. To help this, Friedman’s principle (1970) session â€Å"social obligations of business† is that â€Å"A enterprise is a fake individual and in this sense may have counterfeit duties, however â€Å"business† all in all can't be said to have obligations, even in this unclear sense†¦. the social duty of business is to approach correctly what it suggests for whom. † (p. 2). Every immediate statement 40 words should be put in a square citation. XYZ should positively affect the nation by utilizing ecologically safe materials alongside not abusing any laws by applying f

Ponderings of a lifeguard

Ponderings of a lifeguard So the other day at work, I was sitting at the bottom of one of the water slides. And I was bored out of my mind. There were about 3 people in the entire park, and my entire job was to make sure that none of themI dont know, diedwhen they got off this particular slide. So I was just sitting there, trying to ignore the incessant Beach Boys music they play on loop the entire @#^?*! summer, watching the water cascade down the last 3 feet of the slide and crash into a continuous white spray at the bottom. And suddenly I wondered, why is it white? So I sat back in puzzlement and continued to stare at the water, thinking. I supposed that since the water was moving quickly, so this somehow scattered the light or kept it from being absorbed or from shining right through. But given the speed of the water coming down a slide and the speed of light, this seemed a little hokey. Besides, after crashing into the bottom, the water sprayed across the small pool and remained in its foamy white form as it drifted lazily towards the drain. Of course, the foam is really just a lot of little bubbles gathered together, but still if theres nothing in the water that is white, how does it suddenly turn white when it gets churned around a lot? Its a physical change, not a chemical change, so what gives? This has now been bothering me for over a week. Whenever Im at a spot with any kind of cascading water (which is about half of them) on a slow day, I find myself puzzling the many intricacies of turbulent flow, how it disrupts normal optics, and a million other little questions. But the big one, mainly, Why are white water rapids white? is really driving me nuts. If theres anything Ive learned by being a blogger this year, its that most of the incoming freshman are smarter than me. So Im sure some of you know the answer to this. Come on, help me out. In other news, I finally figured out how Ill be able to update my blog this summer! I feel so guilty for my prolonged silences, but unlike some of my counterparts who are traveling around Europe and doing other cool things, I spend every day staring a pool after pool of water, basically waiting for some major accident to happen. I dont have much to talk about. So aside from answering all of the questions that you guys arent asking me (*glare*), Ive decided to review books. See, reading is a huge part of my life. My mom used to beg me to put the book down and go outside. (My childhood is full of my mom begging/forcing me to do things that most parents beg/force their kids not to do. There are some funny stories in there.) One of the 3 million reasons I love the summer is because I finally have time off to just read. My mom is convinced that theres a cute guy who works at the library, because she cant figure out why else I would want to spend so much time there. Anyway, rest assured that I will spend the entire summer reading anything and everything I can get my hands on. Ive been known to walk down an aisle of the library and pick a random book off the shelf to read. Since this activity constitutes the most interesting thing Ill be doing all summer, I will blog about it. Im also open to reccomended reading (titles, topics, authors), so comment away. I know this is a lame way to blog all summer. So ask more questions. =P Also, while reading Mollies blog, I realized that today was my blog anniversary. My unoriginally named blog is exactly 1 year old. How cool is that?

Application of Balnin Team Inventory In Group Working - Free Essay Example

As a class, we were supposed to form different groups. In which we had to apply our computer knowledge on how to solve real-time problems in an organization using various programs. The teams and the groups that were to experiment were formed before the experiments were started; we were to meet at the computer laboratory where they were to conduct their tests. The whole group comprised of 24 individuals and was supposed to be divided into seven teams, with each requiring only one computer for their experiment. One machine was to be used by the examiner whose role was to test and accept solution offered (Belbin 2012). Each group was issued with the problems to solve. We were needed to solve the problems with a maximum of one hour through some team ended up requiring an addition of one hour. To make everything balanced among the team, we were supposed to work at only one station. Each team was supposed to create a database were all customers information was. We had to make sure that offering customer services were made easy, fast and user-friendly. After the experiment, we were to email the results to the examiner that was only if a group was satisfied with what they had done. The examiner then looked at the results with his or her correct data that was not to be revealed to the partakers. Once the completed solution was correctly tested with the accepted information, the end time for every team was documented (Meslec and Cureu 2012). Despite the problem statements having some test information, we were required to create test data for their answer to pass all the approval tests. The test was done in four different lab periods, in each session; the teams were to conduct the four sessions at four different times. The means of all meetings were then evaluated and compared. Every team was made up of three participants with different working roles under the observation of the Belbin Self-perception Inventory. Every group was to belong to a team that was applied in the examination of the hypothesis in the problem. Each team had a leadership team and a non-leader team about what was expected in the experiment. To ensure that the role that was being investigated was the cause why the groups worked in a specific manner, the other parts were made to be the same across all teams, and the group members experiences that were self-related were used as blocking factors. To determine the potential position of each member, some elements had to be kept into consideration (Senaratne and Gunawardane 2015). Each person had to fill multiple roles by having essential scores for different positions, that is, two or three roles. Another factor was that if a person had skills or personality that made him or she fills a specific role, that person was not allowed to take that position because he or she would fill other roles correctly. In some cases, other members of the group would have prevented a person from filling a particular role if another person would take that role stronger. Some of the underlying assumptions of the research were that some characters would not align with a specific team, since some t eams would be better without that role in the team. This was found to be working with some tasks such as Shaper, where conflict was expected. The Belbin model roles A chairperson is described as a person has the authority over a team. The chairperson guides the team towards the teams objectives in the best way. A chairperson is expecting to be calm, collaborative and having natural ability enhance the workers ability. He or she should also know the strengths and capacity of the whole team. The second role demonstrated in the Belbin roles is the sharper. A Sharper can be described as a slave driver, and he or she is expected to find the best models for solving the problems. He has the role of leading the team in making the members to challenge any ineffectiveness, inertia and complacency (Meslec and Cureu 2012). If a team indicates the possibility of having a chairperson and a Shaper, they are either supposed to cooperate in the readership role or the team will experience conflict due to leadership conflict. Plant is the third role that acts as the reformer of the team. He or she is expected to initiate better ideas and approaches while also creating distinct attention to primary matters. A Plant is scheduled to be introverted, intelligent and imaginative but also expected not to take practical protocols or details. The Plant is treated as the brainchild of the team and has to be occasionally improved occasionally since they at sometimes tend to stay dormant (McHarg and Coombes 2012). Monitor-Evaluator analyzes the team for any approaches, decisions and methods to make sure that the team is strategized in the best competitive manner. The Monitor-Evaluator evaluates the ideas implemented by the Plant and is the only body that can brainstorm with the Plant to make the required approaches. The other duty is the Resource Investigator that is taken as among of those who takes the negotiation roles. He takes a similar role as that of the Plant although he or she is not viewed as an equal. They are both considered as creative members of the team (Senaratne and Gunawardane 2015). The only difference is that the Resource Investigator gets their ideas from external sources due to their extroverted nature. They have a high ability for socializing with individuals and venturing into new things. They, however, have the tendency to lose interest when the problems become too complicated. The team worker takes the complementary role. He ensures that there is collaborative working among the team members towards achieving its goals. The other role discussed by Belbin Company Worker who has the purpose of converting the company plans and concepts into operating procedures. They tend to have the personality of being predictable, hard-working, dutiful and self-disciplined. They are however resistant to ideas that have not been proven and inflexible. The Completer-finisher is the last role in the Belnin model. He or she complements the work done by the Company Worker when relating to the role of manager and workers. They focus on delivering of projects I the light cost estimate and on time (Senaratne and Gunawardane 2015). The team worker takes the role of avoiding the mistakes of both commission and commission, while actively focusing on work aspects that need more aspects. They make sure that the team kept on toes for them to meet the set goals and attention of the compan y. References Belbin, R.M., 2012. Team roles at work. Routledge. The Chemistry of Love

According to Dr. Helen Fisher, a researcher at Rutgers University, chemistry and love are inextricable. Shes not speaking, though, of the chemistry that makes two people compatible. Instead, shes speaking of the chemicals that are released into our bodies as we experience lust, attraction, and attachment. Chemicals in Each Stage of Love We may think that were using our heads to govern our hearts, but in fact (at least to a degree) were simply responding to the chemicals that help us experience pleasure, excitement, and arousal. Dr. Fisher says there are three stages of love, and each is driven to a degree by a particular set of chemicals.  Ã‚  There is a lot of chemistry involved in feeling attachment, sweaty palms, butterflies in your stomach, etc. Take a look at some of the key biochemical players. Stage 1: Lust If youre feeling eager for a sexual encounter with someone (even if youre not quite sure who youll end up with), chances are youre reacting to the sex hormones testosterone and estrogen. Both of these hormones play an important role in increasing libido in both men and women. Testosterone and estrogen are generated as a result of messages from the hypothalamus of the brain. Testosterone is a very  potent aphrodisiac. Estrogen can make women more libidinous around the time they ovulate (when estrogen levels are at their peak). Stage 2: Attraction Lust is fun, but it may or may not lead to real romance. If you do make it to stage 2 in your relationship, though, chemicals become increasingly important. On the one hand, chemicals associated with attraction can make you feel dreamy. On the other hand, they can make you feel anxious or obsessive. People who are in this early phase of falling in love may even sleep less, or lose their appetite!   Phenylethylamine or PEA: This is a chemical that naturally occurs in the brain and is also found in some foods, such as chocolate. It is a stimulant, much like an amphetamine, that causes the release of norepinephrine and dopamine. This chemical is released when you are falling in love. Its responsible for the head-over-heels, elated part of love.Norepinephrine: When PEA causes this chemical to be released, you feel the effects in the form of sweaty palms and a pounding heart.Dopamine: Dopamine is a neurochemical that appears to be associated with mate selection. An Emory University study found that voles (a type of rodent) chose their mate based on dopamine release. When female voles were injected with dopamine in the presence of a male vole, they could select him from a group of voles later. Stage 3: Attachment Now that youre really committed to someone else, chemicals help you stay connected. Oxytocin: Dopamine triggers the release of oxytocin, which is sometimes called the cuddle hormone. In both genders, oxytocin is released during touching. In women, oxytocin is released during labor and breastfeeding.Serotonin: A chemical that is more prevalent among people with compulsive disorders, serotonin can increase our dependence on another person.Endorphins: Your brain acquires a tolerance to the love stimulants and starts to release endorphins. The honeymoon is over, chemically, around 18 months to 4 years into a relationship. However, this isnt all bad.  Endorphins are associated with feelings  of attachment and comfort. Endorphins are like opiates. They calm anxiety, relieve pain and reduce stress.

William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet - 794 Words

Romeo and Juliet Essay It’s hard to search past the blinding flashes of Romeo and Juliet’s demise; it says so in the first couple lines of the play. But there s much more to the dramatic story than holding your breath against the inevitable. Within the structure of the building that is the play, there is symmetry, an almost reflection. The image is a part of the whole which is the tones and structure of the play. One of those reflections is the bright yellow of a party and the inky depth of blue the funeral possesses on the other side of the play. The tale of the two lovers at first seems to rush quite quickly, yet still seeming controlled. When they meet at the party the two seem so perpetually attracted that the the tone is almost lost because time suddenly slows. The joy in the party is subtly incorporated into the characters speech when they talk to each other. Lord Capulet addressing the party and revealing how exuberated he is over the party s excellence then begins talking to cousin Capulet,â€Å" A hall, a hall, give room!-And foot it girls.- More light, you knaves, and turn the tables up, And quench the fire; the room is grown too hot.-Ah, sirrah, this unlooked-for sport comes well.-Nay, sit, nay, sit, good cousin Capulet, for you and I are past our dancing days. President Buddha Free Essays

Buddhism states that Amitabha did not in fact create the world; this is because the world is so impure and detestable and Amitabha is far superior and perfect to ever have created the world. In a government run by this Buddhist belief it would be a continuous effort being made to reiterate the fact that the world is evil and a lot would be done in order to try and purify this state of being. Thus, a lot would change in a government run with the Buddhist belief: From healthcare to employment, the changes of such a society would be immense and drastic. We will write a custom essay sample on President Buddha or any similar topic only for you Order Now The main belief of Buddhist is a state of Nirvana, and it is with this state that the rules governing the country would be based. This paper will explore the hypothesis of a Buddhist government, the changes it would make, and how it would affect the lives of the citizenry from their jobs to what is held sacred in this world. Buddhism is based on the teaching of Siddhartha, who is known universally as Buddha (Delahunt, 2006). In the Buddhist belief, suffering is a part of life, not an emotion or state of being outside of the natural world. In the ancient Buddhist teachings, suffering can be superceded or be traversed by the Buddhist student who acquires mental and moral self-purification (Delahunt). Thus, a government based on Buddhist beliefs would have campaign slogans and propaganda commercials illustrating the belief that although one is suffering now with gas prices, war, poor health care and lack of job security, can all be overcome with meditation and proper spiritual guidance. Therefore in a Buddhist government part of the health care system would offer spiritual therapy in order to come to this spiritual enlightenment. Since the philosophy of Buddhism requires an abandonment of material possessions, the earthly life is transitory. Therefore, the market industry under a Buddhist run government would have a failing import export scenario but on the other hand the country would be self-sufficient and harvest their own necessary food supplies which would definitely bring job security to farmers. A major issue that would arise from this would be corporate run farms and the individual farmer; it would seem that individual farmers would be the main occupation of the worker under this government. Buddhism does not render revelation to be intrinsically involved in their religion because God knows all and this knowledge is passed on to them, , â€Å"In the Buddhist scriptures, there is something remarkably indistinct and evanescent; there is the spirit of the disintegration, of the dispersal of individuality. The I does not act resolutely. † (Otto 97). In Buddhism, sickness would heal itself through death and when Nirvana was reached, such earthly trivialities would be of no concern. Corpulent emotions and feelings would be annihilated in Nirvana while in heaven an over flooding of love and forgiveness would be the reality. In this line of thinking health insurance would have a drastically low rate of sales since death was conceptualized as an extension of life, and the profit margin on this would have no lasting effect on a Buddhist government since material possessions such as money or items money can buy would become un-important the general psyche and welfare of the people. The company is based in the Melbourne and is a listed company listed in the Australian Stock Exchange. For deep understanding and the analysis of the impairment testing the annual report for the financial year ending thirty of June two thousand seventeen has been selected. The annual report contains the directors responsibility statement, financial statements containing the balance sheet, profit and loss account and the notes to the financial statements and the independent auditors report. For the purpose of the analysis, the main focus will be on the consolidated profit and loss account and the notes to the account forming part of the financial statements of the company for the year under consideration. As per thirteen note number and the three note number, the company has tested the following assets for the purpose of the impairment. These are: Goodwill of the company. As the goodwill of the company is not amortized but impaired in accordance with the relevant accounting standard. Intangibles assets of the company the major intangible assets in the consideration are the masthead. The other intangibles are radio licenses, patents and trademarks, website of the company, inside football masthead, goodwill obtained on the acquisition or the business combination and customer relationships. Financial assets and the financial instruments of the company. These include the loans and advances which are recoverable in cash or in kind during the normal course of the business and include the receivable on account of the sundry debtors which has been classified under the head of trade and other receivables. Property plant and equipment of the company as specified separately in note number ten of the financial statements of the company. It includes studio facilities, computer equipment, motor vehicles, office equipment, plant and equipment and improvements. Lastly the investment made by the company during the year under consideration or and that too by using the equity method of accounting of the investments as prescribed the accounting standard. Answers 2 The annual report of the company has not only provided as to how the impairment of assets have been tested but have also provided that how the company has tested for the impairment of the assets at all the levels. The details of the procedure are given below as mentioned in the annual report of the company: At first the impairment is defined as the excess of the carrying amount of the asset at the particular date over the recoverable amount of that particular asset. The carrying amount is equivalent to the amount as carried in the financial statements at the particular date. The recoverable amount is defined as the amount equivalent to the higher of the two figures. These are value in use and the net selling price. Value in use is equivalent to the amount that is obtained by discounting the cash flows of the company that has been estimated for the future years at the discounting rate and includes the discounted value of the terminal value of the asset at the end of its useful period. Net selling price is the amount equivalent to the receipts available after deducting all the expenses pertaining to the sale of that asset. Where the individual assets are identified as being not capable of producing or generating the cash flows on their independent basis then the assets are allocated according to the cash generating units through which the capability of generating the cash flows can be estimated easily (AASB, 2016). At first, for the impairment testing of the property plant and equipment, the company has adopted the value in use and has estimated the cash flows on the basis of the business projections as duly approved in the board meeting of the board of directors of the company. It has been identified that the carrying amount as stated is not in excess of the recoverable amount and thus impairment has not been charged. Secondly, the intangibles have been tested for the purpose of the impairment. As the intangibles are not capable of producing the income on its own therefore the company has identified the two main cash generating units. These are broadcasting cash generating units and other one is publishing cash generating units. Under the first cash generating units, the company has clubbed radio licenses and under the second cash generating unit the company has clubbed remaining intangibles including the publications, journals and slow and inside football. Thirdly, the trade receivables and the other receivables have been tested on the basis of the time period within which it will be received. The company has defined the ageing schedule of the debtors and accordingly has identified which receivables shall be treated as impaired. Impaired is not in equivalent terms with the term of bad debts. The major consideration is in respect of the two types of risks namely credit risk and the other one is liquidity risk. In this way, the company has prescribed the procedure for the impairment test and has tested accordingly. Answers 3 In parlance with the annual report of the company for the year under consideration, the company has reported the figures of the impairment of assets under the following heads: Goodwill of the company has been impaired by $7442 thousands in the financial year ending 2017 as compared to Nil in the previous financial year ending 2016. The goodwill impairment has been charged on the major acquisition of Morris Media made by the company in the previous financial year and impairment charged in the current financial year (Company Official Website, 2017). Masthead being an intangible of the company has been impaired by $797 thousands in the financial year ending 2017 as compared to Nil in the previous financial year ending 2016. The intangible is known by the name of Inside Football masthead. In the current financial year under consideration, $40 thousands have been charged for the impairment of the trade and other receivables as compared to $157 as charged in the previous financial year. In the case of the property plant and equipment the company has not charged for any impairment as the carrying amount is lesser than the recoverable amount (Company Official Website, 2017). Answers 4 The company has listed the following key assumptions and the estimates as required for the purpose of the testing of impairment. These have been listed as below: In the annual report of the company, under the note relating to the intangible assets of the company bearing number thirteen, the key assumptions that the company has adopted have been listed. These includes two broad and major headings Value in use for broad casting cash generating unit and other one is Value in use for publishing cash generating unit. Value in use for broad casting cash generating unit relating to the radio licenses the company has made the assumption that the net cash flows before the tax will continue for the future years at the annual growth rate of 2.3 percent and that too on year on year basis. The second assumption is regarding the discounting rate used for discounting the cash flows and accordingly weighted average cost of capital has been used which is 17 percent. Value in use for publishing cash generating unit relating to mastheads, brands and the customer relationships and also for the goodwill, two assumptions have been used. The net cash flows estimated from the magazine division will decrease by 10 percent on year on year basis and discount rate pre tax will be used and which will be 23 percent as equivalent to the weighted average cost of capital (Company Official Website, 2017). The cash flows as estimated for future depends upon the projections for the next two passed by the board of the company and for the next subsequent years the cash flows will be using the growth rates for estimating the cash flows and that too ranges from 2.3 percent positive to the figure of 10 percent negative. For the purpose of the impairment of the receivables, the four slabs have been made for bifurcation and according to the risk and the debtors ageing the impairment is charged. These slabs are less than six months, less than twelve months, between one to five year and lastly greater than five years (Company Official Website, 2017). Answers 5 In the given case, it is observed that there is the subjectivity involved in the testing of impairment of assets. The degree of the subjectivity cannot be ascertained in accurate manner but the degree has further been confirmed when the independent auditor of the company has commented on the value in use as determined by the company for their cash generating units as the key audit matter which is required to be disclosed so as to educate the investors of the company and their stakeholders. Secondly, the company has not made any impairment of the property plant and equipment and has also not given the detailed calculations of the same. These will greatly affect the decision of the investors and the stakeholders of the company. Answers 6 The impairment testing of the intangibles that the company has adopted is very interesting for me. It is because the cash generating unit so selected by the company is in direct consonance with the intangibles assets so concerned like broadcasting deals with radio licenses and publishing with journals. Secondly the assumptions that the company has made for determining the value in use is real and sounds logical and interesting as two different discounting rates have been used for different cash generating units. Its surprising in the sense that whole of the goodwill of the company amounting to $7442 thousands have been impaired during the year and the same has been acquired in the previous financial year. Answers 7 The new insight that has been gained about the impairment testing is that the company can impair whole of its goodwill of the company in the particular year depending upon the facts and the circumstances of the case. Secondly the company can use two discounting rates for the calculation of the value in use of the assets for each of the cash generating units. Answers 8 At first the company has mentioned in the annual report of the company that the Australian accounting standard number nine on the financial instruments will be applicable on or after first of January two thousand and eighteen and accordingly the fair value determination in accordance with the standard will be dealt in the next financial year. Secondly, the company has mentioned that the revenues have been recognized at the fair value of the consideration that has been received or will be receivable. Authenticity of lease agreement in terms of financial transactions lacks the economic reality. This fact can be substantiating with the accounting treatment prescribed in the earlier accounting rules on leases by IASB. The major fact of hiding the reality is the treatment of operating lease payments and debts in the financial statements of the company as they are recorded as not measurable in financial terms liability in the financial accounts as contingent liability (Ely, 2015). Recording of debt in this manner creates the misleading picture of the companys financial in the eyes of the stakeholders by having high net worth of the company. Another fact which supports that the economic reality is lacking in former accounting standard on leases is treatment of leaseback arrangements. In this type of lease agreement although ownership and rewards never transferred to the lessee but the lessee have the advantage to use the lease asset for its major life which in turns to have the financi al benefit without having legal benefits on the lease assets. Thus, the piece of information used by chairperson in his commentary about lacking of economic reality seems true (Day and Stuart, 2013). Lease agreements are very famous amount different business and find their place at highest levels in airlines and retail sectors. Lease agreements are of mainly two types. One is operating lease and another is financial lease. The earlier accounting standard issued by IASB or IFRS organizations suggests that the operating lease were not recorded in the balance sheet or books of accounts. They were presented in books of accounts as information under Note to accounts in the form of conditional liability which will depend on future event. This situation attracts the business to have more operating lease agreements which will around 85% of the total leases agreement at one point of time (Singh, 2011). Although operating leases are recorded as off the balance sheet debts but they will become actual liabilities for companies in future. This fact creates the situation of bankruptcy for some major airlines and retail companies as their operating leases commitments will become higher and the balance sheet of the company looks positive without these liabilities. And at the time leading to bankruptcy the off the balance sheet commitments of these company will 66 times higher than the actual reported commitment in the balance sheet (Ma, 2011). One of the major deficiency in the former accounting standard on leases creates be short of comparability among the companies operating in same sector like airline sector or retail sector where lease contracts are majorly taken place (Singer, 2017). The accounting treatment of lessor and lessee in case lease airline fleet is very different under earlier standard despite of the fact that their actual financial commitments are same. Thus, it carets the situation of no playing fields available for some airlines while having decisions on the basis of inter comparison financial results (Gross, 2014). The changes and new accounting standard on leases will lacks the attractiveness to different business or sectors that are into lease contracts. More than 50% of the listed companies in Australia are having huge no of the lease contracts will be affected and will not able to take advantages with ambiguity in former law on lease. An accounting treatment change are generally contentious in nature and lacks the reality at economic and financial levels which affects debt reporting in the company having lease agreements (Lim, 2014). Also the cost of implementing the changes into the system will discourage the different people or companies not to follow the new changes in accounting of lease contracts (Knubley, 2010; Moore and Nagy, 2013). The lease agreement after implementation of new changes helps different stakeholders in like investors and management in the sense that lease contracts will helps them to have economic reality along financial reality and the true asset value can be determine for having correct decision about the contract of lease (FASB, 2016). This case study focuses on the strategies that Make It Big Company took for the pu rposes of increasing the Company’s market share and stabilizing its financial base. The effects and implications of the chosen strategies are explored based on business and marketing principles (Winn 185-196). Identification of key elements of MIB strategy One of Make It Big (MIB) Company’s strategies used to bring back customers is the use of mail order roster and increased use of internet where the Company’s product portfolio is posted. The company also embarked on printing more catalogs and went into the business of exchanging mailing lists with other companies. All the strategies applied by MIB focused on growth of the business, attracting more buyers, achieving specific performance targets and also for the purposes of effective competition within the market. Strategies used in the initial stages were based on independent decision making. This was done by MIB CEO. She never made any consultations because she believed in her own leadership capabilities (Winn 185). MIB focused on operations-driven activities which enabled achievement of its goal. These activities included means through which quality of products could be improved, reinforcement of customer service relations and the processes undertaken on resource management (Winn 185-190). The selection of the management team in MIB was basically based on experience and educational background (Winn 194). Identification of the strategies MIB uses Make It Big Company used the idea of partnership, mail order concept and catalogs in accomplishing its goals. The Company’s targets were the fat and oversize women within the society. This shifted their focus to making clothes that could serve the interests of fat people besides making them attractive and more acceptable within the community. The company’s strategy included some political aspect that fought against discrimination based on people’s body size. The strategy focused on improving the self-esteem of the oversize wo men by providing them with comfortable type of clothing.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? The company utilized the abilities of expert seamstresses through whom they hired more other employees to work for the company. These services offered by other workers provided sufficient work force to the benefit of MIB (Winn 189-190). Make It Big (MIB) Company embarked on manufacturing clothing on order, this was based on different seasonal colors which provided customers with variety of choices. On the other hand the building financial base for MIB depended on personal savings and credit obtained from banks; this enhanced its financial capability. MIB had the initiative of using the mail order in expanding the company’s business ope rations. The advertising strategy used at the start of operations was through the word of mouth and posters which were placed along the road, this ensured the expansion of the mailing list, and hence led to improvement of sales (Winn 190). Frequent attendances on trade shows by the CEO gave the company ability to up-date its manufacturing services and locate new product designs. This made it possible for MIB to obtain materials from different sources based on consumer desires and needs. The Company targeted main categories of wear starting from career, sports, casual amongst other cloth’s categories. MIB sold most of its merchandise through catalogues, sales from website was majorly through the same loyal customers (Winn 192-193). MIB up-graded it’s advertising strategy to incorporate radio and newspaper. They also targeted house parties which helped in improving the company’s sales. In order to counter the high rise of independent retailers within the industry, they resorted into consolidation and strict branding of their products; this idea gave clear identification as well as distinction from other products within the market. Other than branding they focused on regulating prices of their goods and improving the nature of service delivery they rendered to consumers. However, other competitors had invested in the new technology of using computers to give and keep detailed information on customers which assisted in easy mailing since consumers were contacted directly (Winn 192). Personal information on loyal customers was easily accessed and this also created channels on how to reach bulky customers. Incorporation of team building and communication programs were good strategies that helped employees within the company to work as a team, hence driving towards common goal. The good relation amongst employees and between MIB and other business partners favored the Company in terms of cash flow. This contributed towards easy marshalling of res ources and the installation of efficient communication and operating system that made it easier for the management to carry out their activities with lots of ease (Winn 192).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Making it Big Case Study specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Evidences that the strategy is or is not working The strategy of beefing up information at the website did not materialize since it only attracted people who never turned up to purchase any of the advertised items (Winn 185). The Company’s CEO commented that she couldn’t manage improving the Company’s performance on her own despite many trials. She needed the help of other advisors from the Company ranks. The CEO realized the necessity of bringing on board fresh blood that could help in making the Company’s prime decisions. MIB proves not to be bottom- line performer since the CEO considered strategy management as secondary to other issues. These strategies at some point were realized not to be in agreement with the Company’s vision (Winn 193). Make It Big had difficulty in predicting what would sell at specific season of the year (Winn 190). The issue of using partnership failed to work at the start since both the partners had conflicting interests and goals, this made Cynthia to buy back her partners shares to allow her be in full control of MIB businesses (Winn 191). The apparel industry experienced great competition from various manufacturers who were interested in making super size range of clothing, most of the Companies operated as joint ventures. This gave a big challenge to MIB since it operated solely under one manager and later recruited other managers who were required to focus only on production processes. The other duties of financial management and overall sales were under the supervision of the CEO. The CEO became ignorant of her main duty of making and creating strategic plans f or the benefit of MIB Company (Winn 193). However, her abilities on financial management assisted the company to carefully monitor cash-flow hence keeping the company’s resources in good check. MIB strategy of recruiting committed and qualified employees ensured efficient implementation of strategies, good management and profitable progress within the company. The managers had the ability of undertaking multiple tasks and responsibilities which at times prove costly on production process due to fatigue. The other contribution of the new management was the up-dating of the computer network which made it easier to operate with customers. The accounting system also realized improvement through the computer system hence made it easier for the management of resources (Winn 195-196).Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Other evidence of strategy not working was the kind of indecision the CEO found herself in. She placed goal achievement as one of the Company’s priority but lacked means on how to achieve the targeted goals. The CEO feared investing in new ventures due to lack of enough skilled manpower that could compete favorably within the markets competitive environment. There was need for recruiting experienced management team that could help in managing risks within the Company. MIB experienced low sales and departure of top managers like the general manager. This was because MIB had difficulty in maintaining and retaining right employees due to poor relations from the CEO, she lacked enough qualifications that could enhance her confidence in such a high position. The CEO reached a point where she was unable to predict the requirements for the Company after expansion. Inability to direct organizational change was very evident; the Company failed to identify general manager with enough e xperience and qualifications who could drive changes through appropriate actions in various sectors like in mailing services (Winn 195). This is because MIB operated on the same principles the Company used when it was starting, the same operating principles could not work any further. For MIB to realize growth and expansion it required adept leadership and different skill from that set when it was starting. This included recruiting new CEO and overhauling the whole management team (Winn 196). Conclusion The management team should have the capability of matching the organization’s structure to its strategies which allows for efficient execution of the Company’s capabilities and competencies. It is necessary for a firm to have a strong resource base which helps in enhancing its capabilities to deliver quality services to consumers as well as competing favorably within the market.
